EaterWire: GGRA Won't Appeal, Plus Bollyhood News!Thursday, January 24, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All news fit to publish goes in EaterWire. Your tidbits welcomed in this here tip jar.
CITY HALL—Earlier in the week, the Golden Gate Restaurant Association decid
ed that it will not appeal the emergency stay of the employer-health care order. From the GGRA's official site: "We have decided not to pursue the petition because of minimal opportunity for success. The emergency stay order was granted without a dissenting opinion, and the schedule for the appeal totals 3 ½ months which is a short time frame to the court ... The appeal process has started in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. We will post filings as they are submitted to the court. We believe this case will most likely end up in front of the US Supreme Court, and take many more months to complete." We're not exactly literate in such matters of the law, but it looks like this is going to drag on in the court system for some time. Further legal insight appreciated. [GGRA.org]
THE MISSION—Still in its nascent stages of existence, Bollyhood Cafe has already been a source of intrigue and entertainment, and now it finally appears to be open, kinda. A new chef—who is a DJ by trade?—has come aboard (and he's posting on Yelp!). Meanwhile, the owners want to stress that Bollyhood is not a restaurant proper. It is a lounge, not a restaurant, so don't expect a full meal. Got that? They say they are now open daily at 5pm, but things "pick up" around 8 or 9 ... We'd still check before heading over.

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan shine in Sharjah show
The show attracted a crowd of 20,000 fans. The evening saw some scintillating performances from Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor who danced along with Minissha Lamba and Ganesh Hegde. “It was a well-attended show and going by the response, Saifeena might come back again here,” said a source.
As a result, the Morani brothers (who organized the show) are planning a series of shows across Europe. Mohammed Morani says, “The Sharjah show (on August 21) was successf
ul. We are now planning a series of their (Saifeena’s) shows across Europe and the Middle East. The show had a big turnout. Kareena and Saif are a good-looking star couple whom people want to see on stage together. They have become hugely popular in Dubai and Europe because of Race and Jab we met.. Though they didn’t end up performing together, they are very keen to do something together.”
Kareena adds, “We had a great show. Saif is in talks with the Moranis to plan it for other destinations. We had a crowd of over 20,000 people which was extremely heart-warming.” Minissha says, “I didn’t do too many shows earlier but the Sharjah one was super fun! I was not in the least bit nervous. In fact, it felt like the most natural thing to be on stage. Now I am definitely looking forward to entertaining my audience on stage.”
Bollywood is busy churning out shows like The Unforgettable show by the Bachchans and Temptation Reloaded by Shah Rukh Khan camp.
